Once a crowd favourite at Hunter Stadium, Nick Carle will come up against his old club this Saturday night at Hunter Stadium. Since returning to the A-League his form has been a up and down, mirroring his clubs performances. Coach Frank Farina has coped a lot of the blame for the Sky blues up and down season, but the players need to be more consistent. If Carle fires so will Sydney FC. And then there is Alessandro Del Piero. His presence on the field is almost worth a goal but will he play or not? If Del Piero is fit for Saturday’s game, the Jets will have to be on their game. Who knows it could be the great Italians last game in Newcastle.
In their past two fixtures this season, Sydney have won both encounters 2-nil. Sydney currently holds sixth position with a host of teams breathing down their neck including Newcastle. A win for Newcastle, would see them move into sixth and jump 1 point ahead of Sydney. Sydney’s coach Frank Farina will again be under pressure to deliver a result. A win this weekend would be valuable and give his team a little comfort and could see him keep his job till the end of the year, a loss could see him gone. That’s the pressure of football.
