Sydney FC travel up the M1 to Newcastle tomorrow night, desperate to obtain the three points offer in the Round 20 match at Hunter Stadium.
There has always been a little spice between these two rivals and Iím sure tomorrow night will be no different.
A win for the visitors would see the Sky Blues jump 5 points ahead of Newcastle on the table. Sydney is hanging on to sixth spot by the skin of their teeth and Newcastle are only two points behind in eight and are aiming to knock of their silver tail rivals for that final play-off position.
The Jets will have at least have one change to the side that defeated Brisbane Roar last weekend, with defender Kew Jailens out due to suspension. Taylor Regan is expected to be his replacement although coach Clayton Zane is keeping his starting lineup a secret. Star striker Emile Heskey claims he is finally back to full fitness. The former English striker has had a frustrating season so far but is ready to go for this all important clash.
The two sides have already met twice this season, both times at Allianz Stadium in Sydney. The home team has won on both occasions 2 nil. Hopefully this is an omen for tomorrow nightís game and the home team Newcastle, win by 2 goals to nil.
Another stat against the Jets is their overall record against Sydney. They have played on 28 occasions with Sydney winning 15 and Newcastle only 6. But records mean nothing come start of play and with the Jets are welcoming back Joel Griffiths to the squad and new signing David Carney is set to make his Jets debut, things are looking up.
Can Newcastle claim their first win over Sydney this season or will Alessandro Del Piero guide his team to victory?
