Itís the battle of the regional cities but most of us know it as the F3 derby even though the F3 has been re-named the M1 or is the Pacific Motorway derby? Anyway whatever you call it, Central Coast Mariners v Newcastle Jets is a must see on the Australian sporting calendar. Why you may ask, because simply these two teams hate each other.
They have met on 31 occasions with Mariners just ahead with 11 wins and Jets 9 wins with the points being shared 11 times. Although the stats show itís pretty even between these tow sides, itís a little different in Gosford. Newcastle has only won once in Gosford in 15 attempts and they have not beaten the Mariners in their previous 9 encounters.
Newcastle have named an 18 man squad for the short 45 minute trip down the road with James Virgili being added to the squad that defeated Melbourne Heart last Saturday while the Mariners have Rose, Roux and Bosner returning to their squad.
Although the records are not in the favour of the Jets, I think they can get over their rivals on Saturday night. By how many Iím not sure but 1 goal is enough. So Emile Heskey to score and break his duck, the Jets to win for the first time against the Mariners in 9 starts and to jump into the top 6.
