If the Newcastle Jets are to consider themselves a serious threat to the A-League title, they will have to overcome the record of not winning in Perth since 2005.
Newcastle will not have a better chance to achieve their goal with the Glory currently in last place on the ladder.
The Jets and Glory have met on 26 occasions, with Perth winning14, Jets 6 and 6 draws. The last time Newcastle tasted success in Perth was way back in season 1 of the A-League, so you would think they are well overdue to break the cycle.
One problem facing the Jets is that they have been inconsistent all season. Although they flogged Wellington 5 nil last weekend and have since notched up wins over Western Sydney Wanderers and Brisbane Roar the past month, they have also fallen off the wagon two weeks ago against Central Coast Mariners. So if the Jets are to be taken seriously, they will not only have to win this weekend but win good.
