Newcastle Jets goalkeeper Mark Birighitti has had two teeth reinserted following the blow he took to the face in the A-League football match on Saturday night.
Birighitti required more than 30 stitches to his lips and chin at a local hospital following the incident where he was collected by Sydney FC striker Shane Smeltz.
He had three teeth knocked out and several others damaged and made two visits to the club's dentist on Sunday and Monday.
Club officials said on Monday it was still too early to decide whether Birighitti would be fit and available to play in the Jets' next game against Melbourne Victory at Hunter Stadium on Friday.
It's yet to be known whether the match review panel will decide to take any action against Smeltz, who was not cautioned at the time of the second-half incident in the match won 1-0 by Sydney.
